I'd Like To Introduce Y'all To "Horn Of Plenty".......

Hello y'all!

My blog's been up and running for a little over 3 weeks now and I am so happy to see the traffic I've been getting. Thank-you for following and showin love with your comments:)
I "heart" you!!!

I'm introducing a new feature on my blog, (cause there's no time like the present), and will interview some creative peeps from time to time.

Tonight I would like to introduce you to the very talented Cathy Terepocki

My friend Alyshia has raved about Cathy's work in the past and forwarded me the link to her site. My verdict? I was blown away!
I searched through her online gallery to find pieces of various mediums (clay, ceramic or glass) with a vintage vibe.

So I contacted Cathy for an interview and voila! Here it is!!!

Hope y'all enjoy:)

How did you get started? And, how long have you been designing?
I was in the ceramics program at Alberta College of Art and Design. I graduated 5 years ago and have been designing and making dishes full-time ever since.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
I have always been a collector of vintage objects, those have been inspirational in my work. I also love fabric particularly printed fabrics. I grew up with lots of old quilts which I love. I'm also inspired by my natural environment.

Are you ever uninspired? If so, how do you get over the slump?
Oh yes. I get uninspired when I've spent too much time in the studio and life gets too busy. The best thing for me in that situation is a good road trip or a long walk will do in a pinch. Nothing like the big prairie sky to get some new ideas flowing.

Name one item you can't live without?
I have a really great double stroller with bike and ski attachments. This gets me a little exercise and fresh air with the kids all year round. It's my sanity.

Any advice for newbies starting out?
Keep things as simple as possible when setting up a studio. I only now for the first time have a proper studio, I've been working in basements and laundry rooms for 5 years but my overhead is low, don't cheap out on promotional materials (ie. design and print jobs).

Aren't these absolutely lovely?

If you are intrigued and have an appreciation for vintage wares with modern twist, please visit

Horn of Plenty

(FYI - you can find lovely accessories on her site as well......)

Oh and before I head on out.....

You know that photo of the boutique, I posted last night? Well guess who it's owned by? Yep that's right! Cathy is the proud owner of this fabulous retail space. Opened back in June 07 ; this boutique accommodates clothing, jewellery, ceramics & other home accessories made by Cathy and other emerging artists. Love that!

Anyhoo...night y'all

If I......

I was doing a little thinking about life and I've gotta say that I'm pretty satisfied. But I'm always on the hunt for things that I'd love to have. It's all innocent really:)

So I figured I'd title today's blog "If I......"

You see if I baked more than once every two years (I do enjoy cooking, but baking? that's another story lol), I'd wear an apron like this.....

And if I "funkdified" my kitchen to look like this (including the stove - love it ), I think I'd bake more?

If I could sew, I'd own this sewing machine (now I've had 3 in my lifetime...never learned to sew), but with this one? I think I would!

And if I had the money? I'd own a boutique that looks a little something like this....

Aw....wishful thinking

Night peeps:)

I Have A Thing For Vintage....

I know that vintage is the new craze nowadays....but I've had a thing for vintage for quite a few years now. Maybe it's cause I was born in the mid 70's and I really lived through the 80's. So I can't help but feel nostalgic when I see a vcr, a cassette player (you know that metallic boom box we'd lug around) , a nintendo game system (with tetris jammed inside), flourescent pink, jelly shoes and I could go on for ever.

I like period pieces too.....things way before my time....things that have history, you know?

Well lately I've bought quite a few cameras, with the hopes of developing a hobby. Some of mine are new, high tech and up to date then I've got others that are straight up old skool.

Well I was searching my local kijiji site (I've gotta say that I love this site.....found some wicked treasures) and I found this camera that I've fallen head over heels for!

I'm gonna contact the seller after I post!!!!

Now since I'm still feeing in that vintage vibe.

So, since y'all were feelin those leather bracelts that I posted last week, I feel that I needed to find something that was just as fabulous.

Now I love me my purses and clutch purses are so lovely......

Voila!!!!!

Are you feelin these clutch purses as much as I am???

Click Here if you do peeps! The shop's called Angeew and you can find it on Etsy (of course lol)

Oh and they have a blog too!! http://angeew.wordpress.com/

Last Night I Surrounded Myself With Wonderful Art

I headed down to Artlife Gallery for the opening of The Ark ( a showcase of recent work by John James aka Erin Ignacio).

Well what can I say? The artwork was fierce & fabulous, the vibe was chill, the convo was great....definitely a wonderful way to spend a Saturday night.

I took some pics with my little point and click digital camera. I'm not entirely impressed with the quality ( should have hauled my Olympus E-420 instead...oh well)

To see the talented works of John James head on down to Artlife Gallery (during August ) if you're in the Calgary area. It's sooooo worth it peeps!

I left before the main event though, K-OS was scheduled to spin. It was gonna be the official after party! But @ 12:45 in the AM I was getting hungry, so I was ready to bounce. I'm sure the party was off the hook though:)

Just Spreading The News.....

Reading, reading and more reading........

That's how I spent most of my day yesterday. The sun was in full effect bringing a blanket of warmth to the city....finally. I chose to spend my time inside though, enjoying the gorgeous weather from my balcony, nose buried in my book.

I did get a chance to spend time reading some of the blogs that I follow and I learned about an event happening August 28th in New York.

Eujenya's putting on an event "True Stars Networking Event". If you're in the New York area, hit her up at eujenya@eujenya.com for more info.

Splish Splash

Hey peeps, hope your day was all good......
Mine was alright. I mean I'm still tryin to cope with this neverending rain:)
K...the picture I just posted isn't of me, but it kinda represents the day I had.
I figured that I would venture out on my lunch break today, (just to get some fresh air and a change of scenery).
I was dressed fairly warm today and had my umbrella, (cause I never leave home without it).
So, my goal was to take a walk around the block, (that's all I was willing to handle for the time being). As I made it to the final stretch (I was literally a minute away from work), when out of nowhere a city bus zooms by and splashes the hell out of me!!!
I was shocked, wet and flippin angry to say the least.... Actually, I was soaked! All I gots to say is I'm firing off an email tonight to our city transit. I mean wtf??? Why in the world would a city driver need to speed down a busy street like that, knowing that it's been raining like forever and there's bound to be a whackload of puddles around. The nerve!
I swear it took a good hour before I was dry.......

Thank Goodness For Etsy!

Yesterday I was feelin a little uninspired. So today, I could have fell into that same slump again, cause it's raining (for what seems like 40 days now) and on top of that?? Its freakin cold out. Instead, I headed over to the Etsy site to find something to "wow" me. Voila....have a look at these gorgeous "hand-dipped" dyed leather necklaces @ threehorses. They are so fierce, it isn't funny!

Necklaces go for a mere 36.00 US

And on top of that? You can get these amazing leather bracelets!

These bracelets are so unique - love it! (going for 42.00 US)

Happy hump day y'all.....I'm off to curl up and read more of "The Bird House" (I'm absolutely lovin the book by the way)

Check This Out....

Hey peeps,

I'm just not all that motivated to post anything spectacular today.....I'm pretty tired and need to sleep asap. It could be the rain, that's got me in this mood. Or, maybe it's knowing that there's more rain to come, (don't think I'll see sunshine until Saturday....blah).

Anyhoo, I was searching one of my fave sites, ( click here ) and I stumbled on a couple of photos that cracked a smile on my face.....

There was so much to choose from, but I figured, this one would work.

Is this guy for real?????

I'm Not Scared Of Lions & Tigers & Bears......But Thunder & Lightening? That's Another Story...

Supposedly, last night my city had the craziest storm. It happened around 2am, but I didn't hear a thing. I slept through it all. I mean I had no clue! When I dragged myself out of bed this morning, got ready and headed off to work, all I noticed was evidence of rain (cause my car was all shiny). When I attempted to park my car, I noticed that the residential area had a whack load of debris in the streets. I was like wtf happened last night???

My co-workers filled me in....there was major damage done to homes, cars, and the list can go on. The hail, thunder & lightening and loss of electricity left most people scared out of their minds, while I slept like a baby.

Well it's almost 10pm and tonight the rain is coming down hard with lightening & thunder!!!!

I'm not too freaked out yet....but it's lights out for me right after this post.....

I thought it would be only fitting to post the song "Lions & Tigers & Bears" by Jazmine Sullivan. Now, although I think Jazmine is the bomb, I want to post PG's cover of the song. You know how I love to showcase up & coming talent. Well PG's gonna be in the fore front in no time..

I hope y'all enjoy her rendition.

Before I go, I have to tell you about a CD that I bought off this guy Saturday night outside of Mercury night club. He was just tryin to get his "mixtape hustle" on, (which is pretty hard to do in Calgary). Since I love to support people trying to do their thang, I just had to support. He had 3 options for me to choose from, Hip-Hop (some cats from Montreal), Dancehall Reggae and Roots(concious) Reggae. I chose the Roots Reggae CD with 44 tracks for a mere 10 bucks!!!

And I gotta say the CD is wicked!!! Money well spent.......

4 tracks in and this tune gets me relaxed (even on a night like tonight)

This Post Is For Those Who Love Pets!!!

Yesterday, I promised that I was going to talk about a dear & close (like sister kinda close), friend of mine and her new business venture. La-Toya's biz is called DRYPET (a pet owner's dream) and it is now officially up & running.

If you've ever struggled with getting your dog (or cat ) dry after being wet (you know, this could happen after a bath, swimming in a lake, romping in the snow or simply getting caught in the rain), then here's the solution to the problem.

The DRYPET towel holds more water than a normal cotton towel. Can you guess what that means? That "drying your pet" time gets cut down drastically. The towel itself is adorable (there's paw prints on the corner -so cute). Love it~

I don't have a dog right now......but I used to. And I remember those days trying to get him dry after a bath....blah can you say frustration?? I wish I had something like this then.

But, I do have a cat now, (her name is Kendal) who every now and then, likes to sneak out onto my balcony, jump off and go galavanting sometimes for hours at a time lol, (I posted about this not too long ago). One of these days she's gonna waltz back to my place drenched from the rain, or a sprinkler, a puddle.....whatever. And, I'm gonna have to dry her off.

My cutie....

So, I have me a towel with her name on it lol, that'll do the trick:)

If you're interested and wanna get your hands on one, check out the site http://www.drypet.com/ Or feel free to send an email to info@drypet.com

Hope y'all are having a beautiful afternoon.....
