Ok..I've got tell y'all something first though. The fact that I am revealing the lucky winner of this lovely vintage item today couldn't be more fitting. You see, I've been keeeping it old skool from the moment I woke up until now:)

It started off with me hearing this tune on the radio....

Then I randomly found these two videos. One video is an oldie but goody and the other is more recent, but still reminds me of the good ole days....

First up - Young MC's (Bust A Move)

Next up - Kidz in the Hall's (I Got It Made 09 - Reebox Classic)

Then I found some of these old skool digs and I had to share~

Filthy Dripped (styles from the "80's punk era to the 90's hip hop scene, and everything in between") is where I found these legendary CAZAL sunglasses..

I'd say that females could rock this one from Whatthefunk

At OldSkoolApparel, I found this! That's right - a Silver Boom Box Stereo Tape Player yo! I'm sure that it still sits nicely on the shoulder.....

RaggedyThreads had this cool Adidas jacket....

VargasVintage - You know I had to post a pair of Adidas Shoes (they're Men's and get this? They've never been worn!!!)

This two-finger ring isn't vintage, but so perfect:)
Beebles

The Little Black Dress~

I've still got my mind on dresses! (and searching the web is not helping lol - there are way too many options!) So I've gotta show you my fabulous finds:) I specifically looked for black dresses and black dresses only. Don't get it misunderstood peeps.....I happen to love colour, in fact I embrace it! But as crazy as this may sound, I do not own a "fierce" little black dress. Isn't that horrific????

There is a sad-lookin black dress hanging in my closet which is far from fierce. So, even if I don't purchase one of these dresses specifically for my upcoming Holiday party, I still need to add one to my wardrobe. I mean a "little black dress" is a must have!

Readers? If anyone of you have a fabulous black dress in their closet, feel free to take a photo and send it my way! I'd love to post in on a future post~

Well since I've got a whole bunch of lovelies to show you, I'm gonna get started right now....

Somethin Lovely Is Up For Grabs Tonight!

As promised, there's another giveaway on The Creative Mixx! Thanks to Nathalie of Skeptis, (a shop where you can find Eco-Friendly jewellery) you are in for a treat tonight!!!

Now y'all know that I am in love with all things Vintage, so I am happy to showcase some "vintage inspired" jewellery that mixes the past with the present. Straight out of Montreal, Quebec - Nathalie is passionate about the 3R's - Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. The items that you are about to see represent that wonderfully.......

Before I show you my Skeptis faves, let's get to know Nathalie a little better~

How did you get started?
A lot of my obsessions start with me trying to make something myself instead of buying it. Jewelry is great because it's easy to get started quick and doesn't require expensive equipment. I learned techniques by reading and looking at other people's work. It's slowly replacing my last obsession which involved a 500 specimen tropical indoor jungle. I bought seeds from all over the world and grew some amazing rare plants but I'm down to about 50 plants now. Happily jewelry doesn't involve insect control and so much humidity that algae starts to grow on the windows!

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Mostly from the materials themselves and the constraints that pop up when you're using recycled/vintage materials and trying to keep your prices down. It's frustrating not to be able to use some beautiful new beads but it's incredibly rewarding to find eco-friendly alternatives. I also used to live in a very poor part of town. The people there are really creative when it comes to getting what they want for free. They grew more trees, vines and vegetables than anywhere else in the city using recycled materials for trellises and planters. In summer, entire apartment facades are completely covered in lush grape vines grown in garbage bins. It's amazing what you can do when you think about materials differently!

Tell us one thing that most people don't know about you....
I'm an amateur naturalist. I've always struggled to find a way to combine my scientific curiosity with art. If I had been born in the age of discovery I probably would have been a naturalist/illustrator like Ernst Haeckel but today to be a scientist requires one to specialize. With art you can talk about anything and I really love what artists are doing today to combine both disciplines - It's nice to see others who think jellyfish and fungus are worthy of contemplation!

Any advice for newbies starting out?
There isn't any one way to succeed. You can waste a lot of time trying to do all the 'right things' or making things you think others will want. There are people out there who want your stuff so don't give up on your concepts, just work hard to make them great! The best resource for ideas and tips is the Etsy forums - everything you want to know about techniques or selling is there! I also have a blog were I discuss eco-friendly jewelry and business practices so a lot of things that have worked for me are discussed there. http://skeptis-thisisgreen.blogspot.com/

I definitely appreciate Nathalie's efforts in using eco-friendly alternatives with her jewellery line....In our day and age - living "green" is where it's at y'all:)

Here are my absolute faves~

Now are you ready for this fabulous prize?????

Here's what's up for grabs this week~

This lovely silver feather necklace is made from half of a pair of vintage clip-on earrings that were converted into a pendant. The silver chain is salvaged and everything about it is eco-friendly including the packaging in which it will travel!

I Saw This A Couple Of Weeks Ago.....

Hey y'all!

As you know, I'm on the hunt for a fab dress. The video I'm about to post showcases the EMAMI "The Limitless" dress. Created by a young & fresh Scandinavian design team, this dress is based on the theme of limitlessness and multifunction. I love the concept of purchasing one dress and having the ability to create 30 outfits! Not only is this idea economical, but it encourages you to utilize your creativity to show the world your individual style! - Love it!

Here's a sample of some still shots showing you some of the looks that you can achieve with the limitless dress by EMAMI

Before I go, I just want to let y'all know that there will be another giveaway on The Creative Mixx tomorrow! So check back for details:)

I'm Happy It's Friday.....

Yes it's true, I'm happy that it's Friday! I know that's a given, but I'm happy that I made it through the week without getting sick..... (I've been sick already and I'm not interested in going that route again.....)

I am feeling a little tired tonight....I've been lying on my couch for most of the evening and then I remembered that I have some lovely etsy shop owners that I meant to showcase a while (and that's a long while) ago......

Here's three shops that are worth a visit:)

Lunarbelle (been doing the jewellery thang in Australia for the last 5 yrs.)

iGale
(a graphic design student at Utah State University)

Beaded Jewelery By Susan (from Champaign-Urbana, Illinois - 18 yrs creating jewellery)

Now I thought I was off to bed, but Rihanna's interview with Diane Sawyer is on and you know everyone will be talking about it, so I wanna ensure that I'm "in the know".......

Oh, one more thing........

I didn't plan on posting about this tonight, but I figured that I can do this over the next couple of days. The thing is, I need to find me a dress for my Holiday party and I've got only 3 weeks to find one.

I tried on this dress from Fox Sparrow Vintage Boutique, (yes it's the one that I posted about the other day). I happen to be lucky enough to work with one of the fashionistas behind Fox Sparrow Vintage - Lindsay Sutton. Now, when I saw this dress in the flesh, I fell in love with it even more. It has a metallic green pattern, which is perfect for the holiday season. I would need to get some slight alterations done, but nothing major. So, this dress is an option.

As, I surfed the net this evening, I found some other cute dresses and figured it would be a great idea, to post some fab finds of holiday dresses over the next couple of days until I commit to one......

All of these dresses are from ModCloth.com

My faves are dresses #2 & #3, what's your fave?
