A Correction And A Recap....

As you know, I posted about the Ruby Ellen Designs launch party last Friday and I haven't posted any pics yet so here are a few.....

You'll see me in some of the photos with my iPhone handy. I was busy snapping away, but the photographers below produced such amazing event photos, that I felt like sharing theirs instead.

Before you feast your eyes on the launch party photos, I have a few things to say:

1. It was a fab fashion show and launch party. There was a great vibe, people were really easy to talk to and I love an intimate setting for a fashion show.

2. I made a mistake when I made reference to Ruby Ellen Designs RED collection in Friday's post. I assumed that the RED collection was designed with the colour red as the inspiration. However, the RED collection is actually an acronym for Ruby Ellen Design! (my bad)

I've Got Some Sad News:(

As the title of my post says, I've got some sad news to share.....

I heard through the facebook grapevine today that a lovely little Calgary shop by the name of Shisomiso is closing it's doors after 6 years of being in business.

What is Shisomiso you ask? Well it's a Boutique, Gallery, and a workspace with a focus on supporting young Canadian designers. Co-owners Irene Rasetti & Victoria Lee worked very hard at creating a towards creating an atmosphere where people could pop in to chat, shop and admire up and coming artists.

They were a supporter (and sponsor) of the last "Take Off Your Clothes" clothing swap and I am truly sad to hear that their doors will be closed.

However, Irene & Victoria have decided to pursue other adventures and I think it's important to pursue new dreams and develop new passions. I'm excited to hear about the new changes and opportunities that these two lovely ladies will face over the next upcoming months.

The doors will officially close at the end of February. So in the meantime, make your way down to Shisomiso for amazing deals. Currently they have items that are 25-75% off. But there'll be more sales in the weeks to come so keep your eyes open Calgary!

All I have to say is, Shisomiso - you'll be missed!

#105, 100 - 7th Avenue SW

Psst....If you or someone you know might be interested in taking off where Irene & Victoria left off please feel free to contact them! They are willing to discuss options.

Ruby Ellen Designs Launch Party

Happy Friday y'all!

It's been a busy week on my end. I've been putting a lot of my energy into planning the next "Take Off Your Clothes" clothing swap event for Spring. This week was a successful one where plannings concerned. I've been lucky enough to secure a date, venue and dj's so far. I hope to have everything secured by the end of the month so if you're in Calgary, keep you eyes open for details at the end of January.

I'm also collaborating with a friend to launch a biz next month - so stay tuned for that!!!!

Tonight, I'm off to the Ruby Ellen Designs Launch party at Eleven Eleven boutique.

Ruby Ellen Designs' spring collection is now officially at Eleven, Eleven. And tonight they're celebrating Ruby's new RED Edition dresses. I happen to love colour and "Red" looks so good on me, so I am getting myself together to head on out.

I hear that there's gonna be a bit of bubbly and some tasty treats to enjoy.

I'll be taking some photos with my iPhone to upload later tonight!

Before I go, I'm posting a song that I've had on serious rotation today!

Enjoy:)

Seasons Greetings y'all! I hope your holiday has been amazing so far:) Mine was pretty good! It was so good that I am now the official owner of the iPhone4!

Y'all know I've been wanting one for the longest time. Well I am so happy to have one of my very own, cause I'll be back to blogging on the regular. I know I've said this before but I'm so serious. In fact, this post was created entirely via iPhone! Technology truly can be amazing!

You also must have noticed The Creative Mixx's new look. I hope you like it:) I love the fact that this space looks a lot cleaner. There's a couple of tweaks that I'll be making over the next couple of days. Not all of my links are working, so I'll be fixing that up:)

Check This Out!

It's December 13th and I am practically finished my Christmas shopping!!! This is so unlike me, as I usually get everything done minutes before the big day. Instead, I had an amazing shopping day with my fab friend "G".

Shopping during the holidays always gets me into the "goiiving" mood and wanted to offer a giveaway on The Creative Mixx. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to offer one:(

The good news is that I've located two really cool contests (run by some pretty wicked bloggers) and I'd like to share them with you.

Today I entered Throw It In Your Bag's Christmas Giveaway. I gasped when I saw what was up for grabs and quickly entered in every way possible.

Click HERE to get all the contest details to win THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over at Textstyles.ca, today began the "12 days of Christmas giveaway" where everyday, (including weekends) 1 item will be given away.

You have a chance of winning a Textsyles.ca "hot pick" by Toronto and Canadian designers/brands.

Their first giveaway is a hand Printed limited edition 2011 calendar from Kid Icarus.

This Got Me Excited!

Happy Monday y'all! Hope you had a fabulous week-end! I had a pretty relaxing one, but not entirely uneventful. I wasn't couped up in the house for the entire week-end. I actually met up with my friend Vanessa for some Vintage Shopping at Fashion Central! We were there specifically to see the Vintage Pop-Up Shop. For those who have been following me for a while, know by now that I adore vintage. So I was super excited to go! I took some cool photos and will do an official recap tomorrow! (I've got other things to post too, like a photo of the most beautiful leather bound notebook given to me by my friend Vanessa and a photo of the vintage telephone table that I bought today).

But tonight, an ever-so talented Stylist (who happens to be a friend of mine) exposed her new website for her facebook fam, so I had to share! It's such a beautiful site showcasing her talented "styling" that I fellt you would appreciate her talent too. You've seen the works of Lindsay Sutton on The Creative Mixx before. She was one of the creative masterminds behind Fox Sparrow Boutique.

So, I am proud to introduce you to www.lindsaysutton.ca

Here's some of the loveliness that you can expect to see!

Official Launch of DADA Belts....

I just heard about the launch of DADA Belts today from a very close and dear friend. When I got the Facebook invite to "like" them, I figured "why not?" I like belts (although I don't own very many), but I do think its important to own a really good one.

After viewing their cool video (which shows you how a DADA belt is made and what it looks like), I am hooked.

Dada Belts from Brett Ferster on Vimeo.

I love the fact that they make custom belts (with a modern feel) for men and women, but use old school methods. Everything is hand-cut or sewn on a 101 year old sewing machine. Wowsers! Who does that in this day an age?

Well, if you want to learn more about them or want to order a custom made DADA belt of your very own then visit their website:

http://www.dadabelts.com/

Ordering your very own DADA belt has 5 simple steps:

1. Choose your leather
2. Choose your stitching colour
3. Choose your hardware
4. Choose your end strap shape
5. Enter your belt measurements

You can send all additional inquiries to:
connor@dadabelts.com

Wear a High-End Designer Dress & Stay on Budget~

With Holiday party season just around the corner, the local event that I'm gonna tell you about is such a fabulous idea!

Cakewalk Designer Dress Rentals (in Calgary) gives you the chance to look amazing for that special occasion without breaking the bank! Choose from designers like Badgley Mischka, Emilio Pucci, Diane Von Furstenburg, Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson and more.

How does this work?

Well first you find the dress
Choose from their collection of designer dresses online, and either make an appointment with one of their stylists for a fitting, or you can have the dress shipped directly to you.

Then you choose how long you want to keep the dress
4 or 8 days

The last thing is to return the dress!
The day after your event, return the dress using their easy pre-paid envelope.

Here's a sneak peak at some of the dresses that they have available.

The Cakewalk Designer Dress Rentals launch takes place November 8-10 at Hotel Arts.

I'll be there (either on the 8th or 9th) and hope to get an interview with Ava Czymoch (founder/stylista)

Finding The Perfect Fall Hat...

The fall season has been in full swing for quite some time now, so I thought it would be a great to showcase some hat options for the fall.

Personally, I don't wear hats, (they just don't look good on me - at least in my opinion lol). But I do appreciate hats. If you look fierce in a hat, then check out some of these fall options all under 50.00~
