I Just Found A Site That Showcases The Finest In Contemporary Pop Culture~

Hey peeps, I was surfing the net to find some cool, unique, and innovative items for sale and I randomly fell upon a site called "Lost At E Minor".

In addition to finding "cheeky" products, you'll get the latest and greatest updates on art, design, photography, music, fashion, film and more.

With locations in NYC and Australia, the editors have hand picked some fabulous finds that will set you apart from the ordinary. Now I loved the editor selections, but I've narrowed things down abit.

So, here are my fave products from their online shop.....

Enjoy~

The "Aok" T.....

I've never tried caviar, but this ring has got me thinkin.....maybe I should lol

I did a post on the "moustache craze" a while back - these cuff links would have been perfect for the piece....

This is a touch screen watch - how cool is that?

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, this lovely necklace would make the perfect gift~

Now when I saw this I thought that it was hilarious. If you've constantly had your lunch stolen at work (or school), just pick up one of these anti-theft lunch bags.
They come with green splotches printed on both sides, making your freshly prepared lunch look spoiled, haha.

Now if you're not a huge fan of lace - these bracelets are a great way to add just a touch to spruce up any outfit

This tiny camera is cute and functional (uses 110 film)

I Know It's A Day Late But Here's Another Blogger Spotlight~

Since I didn't post this last night, I'm gonna get right into things. A lovely blogger who goes by the name of Buffy Leigh has a fabulous blog called kOs. (in short). Buffy dreams of being Björk's personal designer and with the fashion selections that I've seen on her site? She's got that edgy sense of style that could make her dream a reality. Just click HERE to visit her shop. It's a space where she keeps the concept of "recycling" alive by re-selling Etsy purchases that just didn't work out. A fellow Albertan, Buffy and I share something in common - our love for Etsy! So not only will you find amazing fashion finds and interviews, but expect to see some fierce-looking etsy picks too~

How long have you been blogging?
Only since May 2009! My blog is still a wee little one.

Please let my readers know what your blog is all about.
My blog is a place for my daily random musings, which tend to focus on my favorite fashion finds. I feature independent designers who use sustainable or recycled materials, have handmade or local production, and/or limited run collections.

What made you decide to enter the world of blogging? And is kaKofonie Of si(gh)lenS your first attempt?
It started for a couple of reasons. First, I'm obsessed with Etsy.com, and tended to buy clothes in order to see and feel them up close, whether or not I really planned on wearing the piece. So I thought that if I had one place where I could collect photos of all the pretty things I wanted, that I would spend less (but I'm spending more now!). Also, I'd been out of school for 3 years and was noticing my grammar getting worse and worse, so I wanted something to keep my writing skills up to par. And yes, kOs is my first attempt at blogging.

Most of us bloggers work full-time jobs or are students. What do you do when you're not blogging?
I'm a laboratory attendant at Canadian Blood Services, the organization that collects and distributes all the donated units of blood to hospitals in Canada.

Name one item that you can't live without?
My MacBook Pro! Also my wardrobe, if that can be considered 'one item'. I get very attached to my clothing. :) Oh, and my chapstick.

Do you think that you'll still be blogging in a year or two from now?
My thoughts on this change weekly actually. I most likely will be, but perhaps the focus will change a bit. I do love blogging and promoting my favorite indie designers, so I'm sure kOs will exist in some form at least a year from now.

What steps have you taken to promote your blog & gain readership?
When I feature a designer, I try to email them and let them know. A few designers have become regular readers that way, and have posted links to my blog on their own blogs, Facebook pages, Etsy shops, etc. So that has send a lot of readers my way. I'm also a part of the IFB, Delance Fashion, and Chictopia online communities, which is an easy and fun way to do some self-promotion (while also discovering some fantastic blogs!).

Do you have any advice for newbies starting out?
Be yourself and inject your personality into your posts. Blogs are so much more interesting when they have even a slight hint of the blogger's personal life. Don't start blogging with stats in mind. You should be blogging because you enjoy doing it, not for a certain number of hits. Readers will somehow find your blog if you keep at it (and tag your posts!). And please do spell check.

As I mentioned - Buffy has definitely got an eye for fashion

Fashion Central Opening - The Re-Cap

Well peeps, last night was a lot of fun. With a DJ spinning wicked tunes, endless complimentary drinks and h'ordeuvres, stylish peeps, great convo and fierce designs - I have to say that The Fashion Central opening was a huge success and I was so happy that I made the time to attend.

Now, I'll give you a bit of background behind the concept for "Fashion Central". If you live in Calgary, I'd say that you should think of this space as the sister to "Art Central". With 3 buildings combined, 3 levels and 28,000 square feet of space, you can expect high-end fashion moguls like Betsey Johnson and independent designers like Bibelot , AG Plateria, Motek Clothing and Lara Presber just to name a few. This is just the beginning y'all, cause there's space still available for leasing, so you can expect more fabulous stores to be added throughout the year.

Here's the photo re-cap of last nights fashion extravaganza~

Betsey Johnson - Love her!

She's Fresh And She's Fly....

Wow what an amazing day I've been having and it just keeps getting better!

First off, y'all know that I've linked up with The SWAP Team to host Calgary's first ever "Take Your Clothes Off" clothing swap event this Spring. Well I just may have secured a venue and I've got a local radio station interested in assisting with some promotion. I'll keep you guys posted with the details in a couple of days.

But secondly, I am super excited about the interview that I'm about to post for y'all tonight. Now if you're from Canada and love fashion then you should be well aware of the "Project Runway Canada" series, (to my American peeps, we've got our own version too!) As far as I know, Season 3 hasn't started as yet, but Season 2 was "off the hook".

Hands down, the contestants on the show were extremely talented, however I connected with one designer in particular (even though it was via the tv screen lol).

That my friends, was with Ms. Jessica Biffi, cause she's got swagger & style and seems so down to earth. I absolutely love the "urban" vibe that I get when I see her designs, so I had to holla at her for an interview. I am pleased to introduce (or re-introduce) you to the ever-so-fabulous Jessica Biffi!

What city do you currently live in?
I live in Toronto, just moved to the west end!

What made you decide to become a designer? And can you let us know how you got started?
I just always loved to draw, and for the most part it was always clothing. I made Barbie clothing with my grandma when I was really little. My mom is a seamstress, so its been around me my whole life, and one day I just decided that I wanted to make clothing. As I started getting more and more into it in high school, I realized that I had a natural talent for it. From there I went to Ryerson, for fashion design, and then got on Project Runway, and have been going ever since.

Now, most of us do recognize you from Season Two's Project Runway Canada. So, I'm dying to know. What was it like being on the show?
It was amazing, scary and crazy all at the same time. I mean, I'm not shy, so the cameras didn't phase me, but there was a lot of drama, as we all got to see on the show, and that was all real. It was just hard to have to deal with the competition and with the egos and drama on top of it. But that being said, it was one of the most incredible things that I have ever been a part of. To be a well known Canadian designer is amazing! The show launched my career, let me get my foot into the door, and showed Canada what I can do. And I met some amazing people on the show, and made some great friends .

What gets you inspired?
Everything! I look at a feather, a person, listen to a song, come up with stories for "characters", mix opposites together. I'm all over the place, and no, one thing inspires me. I look everywhere for inspiration.

Do you ever feel uninspired? If so, how do you get over the slump?
I do, I think every creative person does. When I get like that I just take some time way from everything, just do the opposite of what I was trying to do, so it isn't forced and let it come back to me naturally.

Are there upcoming shows or collaborations in the works for this year?
I am working on an accessory line, and maybe you might see it sported on some runways soon. I'm always working with a Canadian retail to launch two capsule collections under my name. More about that to come, though.

Other than through your site (http://www.jessicabiffi.com/), where else can one find your designs?
Right now the online store is coming along. And retail locations will be posted on my website soon as well.

I know that this is a bit off topic, but what is the one fashion piece that you just can't live without?
I'm an accessory and shoe fiend! I have a pair of gold leather Supra Skytops that I love, and can't live without, and my 3 finger knuckle rings from Delphic is always on me, unless I'm at the airport - then I check those bad boys.

Any advice for newbies starting out?
Do what you love. Have a strong voice and stay true to yourself and what you want to say. This is a hard industry and you need to keep that in mind, but not let that hold you back. Take risks, and make connections, and listen to people that have been around - especially if they are still around, means they are doing something right!

Where do you see yourself in 5yrs.?
I see myself this doing what I love - designing! In five years, I hope to have the brand a little more established. In stores across Canada, and breaking the US market.

Now it's time to reveal my fave "Jessica Biffi" pieces. I'll start off with images from the Project Runway Canada Final Collection~

And here are my faves for Jessica's Spring/Summer 2010 collection~

I hope y'all enjoyed the interview. I just wanted to credit the photographers for the images that were used in this piece.

It's Time For A New Pair Of Glasses.....

I wanna show you a pair of glasses that I'm dying to get!

I've been wearing this Versace pair for about 2 years now....

I do love them, but I'm ready for something new. I'm staying with the Versace line and fell in love with this....

I went to an eye wear store today and made a deposit on the black & white pair. But with a bit of hunting online this evening, I found out that I could get this pair for a lot cheaper some place else. I'm going to go back to the store tomorrow to see if I can get my deposit back. Wish me luck! The new store only has it in the Tortoise shell - but I think it will totally work.

By the way, what do y'all think???

Are these fierce or what?
