I Have A Thing For Balloons...

Even with all the controversy around Instagram, I'm still a fan.

It's a great tool to make my photos look lovely...

With that being said, I noticed that I have a thing for balloons. Who would have thought?

Here are my faves....

The Caribbean in 2013????

I saw this magazine in the office today and made an affirmation....

I must make it to the Caribbean in 2013!

Can't wait to put these boots away, head off  to
sunny skies & heat to loaft....
(Side note - these boots were such a steal $9.95 at Joe. My feet are super warm and I think their super cute!)

Just checked out the Joe site and saw these babies!

Would love to pack these!

To get me inspired, I made a Soca/Calypso mix on Grooveshark..

CAMP + QUARRY has the loveliest jewelry

I just discovered CAMP +  QUARRY a little over a month ago on instagram, (thanks Chelsey!)

My verdict? I'm in love.

You see, back in the day, I was really into quartz and crystals. I had a quartz necklace and ring which I cherished dearly.

But, I moved around a lot in my early adulthood, it somehow got lost along the way:(

Just looking at these images has inspired me to bring quartz back into my life....

This is one of my fave CAMP & QUARRY pieces

And this....

And this...

And this....

But, I just a ring posted on instagram  yesterday which I want, want, want!  It's a work in progress, so I can't post a photo of it yet....

BUT, it's very similar to the chunky rings found in the two photos below....

A Lovely Version from The Mulifarians

Yesterday I blogged about remixes and covers and I'm continuing the theme this morning.

I heard the loveliest version of  "O Holy Night" (one of my faves) produced and performed by a group of Calgary musicians.

I am blown away.....

VanJess - "Cover" Queens

I've been following this talented duo for a while now - love their covers, especially this one:)

Here's their first official video for  one of their original songs - Drumroll

Finding the Remix

If you've been an avid reader of The Creative Mixx, then you know that I LOVE music....

Here's something that you might not know....I've preferred the remix of a song more than the original on several occasions....

In fact, I think I prefer the remix of a song over the original on a "regular".

Here's a great example....
I'd rather listen to the remix of  Ooh la la la (Fu-Gee-La) Refugee Camp Remix

than the original Ooh la la la

When I learned about a free app that makes it easy to discover remixes of songs in my library - I squealed!

It's called Remixes y'all!

Developed by a Calgary startup called Decoder, the Remixes app lets you select a track which then gets searched through SoundCloud for available remixes and covers.

So, if you're looking to expand your music library or just love a good Remix, visit their site!

Here's a quick fyi on Decoder. They build mobile device and tablet products for cuttingedge startups and businesses across North America. They with Uppercut – a creative agency – for user
experience, design, copy, and marketing.

It's Been Almost a Year.....

I can be super forgetful and lose things on the regular....

But, I'm trying to change that. It'seriously one of my "things to do" in 2013.

About a year ago, I had a brand spankin new iPhone.....for about a month. Then I lost it. Not sure where actually. I know it was on the morning of a weekday, (with my luck it was probably on a Monday).

Anyhoo, I think it slipped out of my pocket and dropped down the sewer.  I have an iPhone 3gs as a replacement and although the screen has been cracked about 3 times, I still have it.

If I had the 4, 4s or 5 - I'd buy my self one of these from TMC  Fashion Bags

Latest Video from Lee Jeans Australia

Back in the day, I owned a pair of lee jeans and a lee jean jacket. I don't own a pair now, but I do have a Lee jean jacket, (not the same from my youth)

It's a pre-loved jacket that I picked up at a house sale early this year

I love it: and wear it often:)

So, when I heard about this new video from "Lee Jeans Australia", I had to post.

They've launched a new concept called "Lee Backstage" (your pass to the back pockets of the best events, happenings and gigs around the world)

Good move Lee Jeans!

It only took one visit to their site and I was hooked! It's clean, sleek and their lookbook is styled in a way that speaks sophistication, is edgy and feminine at the same time.

I'm in my late 30's and would rock  a JULIE BRANDT piece with ease:)

Time For New Specs....

If you haven't heard about Warby Parker then head over to and check out their site.

The beauty about this brand is that it's built on the concept that "cool eyewear" doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg.  Instead Warby Parker is an excellent alternative to  the overpriced eyewear currently on the market.

Get this, they believe that prescription eyewear shouldn't cost $300.00+

Now, that's a thought! My last pair (which I stepped on and broke) cost me about $970.00!!!!  You wanna know why eyewear costs so much? Well it's simply because the industry is controlled by a few large companies that keep the prices high, reaping huge profits and leaving consumers with very little options.

You'll find  the coolest looking specs at Warby Parker AND they've partnered with non-profits like VisionSpring  to ensure that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is sent to someone in need.

I've selected two styles that I love and can't wait to make a purchase:)

Option 1

Option 2
