My Facebook Status....

I just wanted to share my Facebook Status with y'all

"Well 2009.....we're just about through. It's been fun, (even with the drama). But I'm ready to roll with 2010 now~"

Yep that's how I'm feelin everyone! I am really looking forward to the upcoming year. I still wanna continue doing what I've been doing with The Creative Mixx but I'm looking forward to seeing this blog grow.

Look out for new features like "Blogger Spotlight", "Street Stylz" & "Shop Talk". I'll even make more of an effort to post my music picks on the independent tip. (Blogger makes a little hard to post links to songs that are underground - but I'll make it work).

So, I want to give a big shoutout to all my Followers! Thank-you for joining me on The Creative Mixx and I wish you all the best in 2010. To all the readers that have stopped by for a visit - I wanna Thank-You. I appreciate all the luv that y'all have had for The Creative Mixx.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

To get me in the mood, I've been listening to some of my fave Toronto tunes for 2009. (If you didn't already know - I was born & bred in the T-Dot. So, I was listening some some of these TO artists in 2009.

A Wedding On New Year's Eve.....

A co-worker of mine has a friend that will be getting married tomorrow night - New Year's Eve. I think the idea is absolutely fabulous! What a wonderful way to ring in the new year. A wedding to mark 2010 got me thinking......

I haven't posted any wedding ideas on The Creative Mixx ever! How crazy is that?? I mean, summer has come & gone (a prime season for weddings) and I didn't mention this topic once!

Well, with a Vintage theme on my mind, I decided to show you some options for bringing the past into the present, while tying the know.

Whether you're the bride, groom, or guest, I found something fabulous for you~

Starting off with the guests, check out these lovely frocks......

To end things off for tonight. I'm gonna post two songs from a powerhouse celebrity couple that's still holding strong since their wedding. Yeah you guessed it, I'm talking about Jay-Z and the oh-so-fabulous Beyonce!

Can You Believe That 2010 Is Just Around The Corner?

Time has been flying by so quickly over the past couple of days. I know that this happens every year, but the minute I finally feel like I've recuperated from the hustle & bustle of Christmas, New Year's sneaks right up on me.....

I'm trading in the glam and the glitz this year for a chilled out New Years Eve. So, rather than head out for a night on the town, I'll be partying it up at a friends house:)

It doesn't mean I won't be "blinging out", this New Years, (trust me, I can't do it without it). But having a chilled out night will mean that I'll be toning it down a bit. This means that I won't be rocking a dress like one of these:

Net-A-Porter

I checked out Flickr to found some alternative looks that you can put together to ring in the New Year (just in case you're keeping in low-key this year like I am)

If you're partying it up in style this year and post a photo someplace - let me know! I'd love to see it:)

Now, I'm gonna move from fashion to music. This is definitely the time of year where I like to reminisce about the songs that had me moving over the past year....

I'll post two tracks tonight.

The first one has been posted on The Creative Mixx back when it was released. And, I still love it.

Next up, I'll be posting a Drake joint for y'all. Now I wasn't feelin this video back when I first saw it and months later, I still don't get it....

Anyhoo....I'm still feeling this track (regardless of the video)~

I'm Trying To Decide.....

I decided not to go to the mall for Boxing Day shopping yesterday. As much as I love to shop and source out fabulous finds.....I just can't handle a crowded mall. So, I decided to go online and check out a store that I've wanted to visit for the longest time. I just haven't found the time to drive all the way out to the Cross Iron Mills mall to stop by Forever 21. The beauty is that since Christmas, Forever 21 has been having a sale (with a special Boxing Day section)and tomorrow's the last day. To sweeten the deal they're including free shipping too! I've selected a few of my faves but may need to narrow things down a bit...

Forever 21

No I've gotta tell you that even though I didn't make it to a crowded mall yesterday to grab a deal, I did make it to the movie theatre to watch a powerful movie yesterday. If you haven't seen "Precious" yet, then I recommend that you do. I've wanted to see it ever since I heard about it when it aired at the Toronto Film Festival. This movie took me on an emotional roller-coaster - seriously, one minute I was angry, then I was crying. It shocked me and made me laugh all within the course of an hour of a half.....

My verdict? It was amazing! Raw, Gritty & Real - it literally blew my mind~

I Got A Little Something Before The Big Day~

Last Friday, my co-workers and I had the annual "Secret Santa" gift exchange and potluck. It was fun times mingling with each other, eating great food and most importantly opening our gifts. Working with creative people is a definite bonus - the gifts given & received were so unique that it blew my mind:)

I'll start off with showing you the gift that I purchased for my co-worker. As per usual, I headed over to Etsy for some ideas. I knew that I was looking for a cool pair of earrings that could be worn to work or out on the town.

I searched and searched until I fell upon a lovely shop called Sara Thomas Designs Studio. I gotta tell ya - there are so many lovely pieces available at her Etsy shop! In fact, I was so intrigued that I asked for an interview. So peeps, I've got good news, you can check back for a future "feature" post, cause Sarah is looking forward to appear on The Creative Mixx . In the meantime, have a look at the fabulous earrings that I bought~

The earrings arrived packaged to perfection with a personal note - so sweet:)

Now here's the gift that I got. I unwrapped the gift to reveal a neat looking silver box. I opened it further and literally gasped! Inside, was a beautiful vintage inspired necklace and knock-out earrings. Everyone knows that I have a thing for "bling" - so this was just my style~

I am in love! I

I also want to show you something else. We had a "Made By You" sale at work about a week and a half ago. Basically the concept was to have us bring in things that we've made - auction the items for sale to raise funds to spruce up our work space. Well let me tell you, there were some amazing items up for auction (or sale). There was everything from hand-made scarfs, to artwork, baked goods to jewellery.

I was lucky enough to grab the sweetest holiday gifts ever! I can't stress this enough, but I am thank my lucky stars sometimes for allowing me to work with such creative peeps. A lovely co-worker made these fab "potted" works of art. You get a pot, soil, and marigold seeds all packaged with love.
I decided to add a little extra touch - (the walnut ornaments are my subtle addition - my interpretation of adding a little bling to the green theme lol)

Have a look:

And a dear friend of mind, put together these "cookie in a jar" packages, including the dry ingredients, recipe & tiny cookie cutter - Love it!

If you've given a hand-made gift this year or received a fab holiday pre-gift? Let me know! I'd love to hear about it:)

Night y'all~

My Goodness It Has Been A While

Ooh I can't believe that it's been more than a week since I've posted!!! Please forgive me peeps! The quickly approaching holiday season has kept me busy with shopping and parties.....

I seriously hope y'all have been well and I hope that you've been busy as I have been.

In addition to my hectic schedule over the past week, I've been suffering from a bit of a cold - basically I've had a sore throat since Friday - arg! It hasn't been fun:(
But on a lighter note:) I've gotta let you know that I've added a new addition to my family, a cute kitten named Jessica.

Now if you've noticed on by taking a look to the right....I've officially been on Twitter for a few weeks now. I haven't been doing much tweeting as yet - but maybe I will over the holidays (I'll have some time off - can I get a woot! woot!)

Anyhoo, this morning I got an email letting me know that I have a new follower on Twitter - GladiolaGirls! Well I checked out their site and I've gotta say that they've got some lovely items for sale. Created by a group of friends, the Gladiola Girls boutique has been up and running since 2002. If you're in the Boone, NC area - I suggest that you stop by for a visit. You'll find an assortment of items with that urban chic feel....

Here are some of my faves~
